The Rozsutec natural sharpening stone is a sedimentary sandstone from the Slovakian Mala-Fatra Mountains. A hard stone, composed of fine and even grit, with high abrasion resistance, they are an excellent choice for fine tool, knife and razor honing. While well known in Europe, we hope to introduce their excellent combination of quality and value to a new generation of users around the world.

With an estimated grit range of 6K all the way up to 10K on a finely smoothed stone surface, they are of relatively slow speed but a little patience will yield excellent results.  Produced by the sole family making these hones for the past 25 years, each measures approximately 6” (150mm) x 2” (50mm) x 3/4" (20mm) thick, give or take a couple mm. The top and bottom honing surfaces are well flattened and chamfered and ready to use for most applications, but can be further lapped for a polished surface suitable for razor finishing.

These are hand quarried, natural stones, and as such the color, size and shape will vary slightly from stone to stone. The stone surface is pictured dry, and finally wet. A selection of representative examples can be seen in the final 2 photos.
