A very large 24' brick of Aiiwatani Mizu Asagi. This stone features impressive hardness and density with extremely fine particles. This stone was mined from the Shiki Tomae layer which is known for harder stones. Perfect for final finishing of razors and tools. This stone also has impressive cutting speed and ease of use for such a hard, fine stone. If blind folded, it would be difficult to discern the difference between this stone and a similar Nakayama Mizu Asagi. Many Aiiwatani stones are harder but not so many are capable of a bright, mirror like finish, which this stone does well. Taking all of these features into account, this stone stone represents an amazing value for such a high performer which will last multiple lifetimes. For razors, the stone can be used either standalone or with Nagura progressions. there is no self slurry when sharpening a plane blade, only inky black swarf. The stone is capable of withstanding firm pressure and absorbing the weight of the blade with no scratching or adverse, tactile issues. The polish is a vivid, bright mirror-like finish with no visible scratching. Overall, a wonderful value taking into consideration the stones giant size and high performance. Collector Grade stone!
