This exceptional Japanese whetstone was selected by us and imported directly from Japan, thoroughly tested and sealed on sides and back to protect the stone for long term use.

Extremely thick, dense and heavy Aisa layer stone from Aiiwatani. These Aisa stones are very rare and unique, hardly ever seen for sale. This is a vintage stone which performs at an extremely high level. The classic Asagi (light yellow) base is adorned with underlying , holographic patterns called Tamamoku. Tamamoku patterned stones can often be classified as harder more fine Asagi stones. This is one such example. Perfect size for multiple lifetimes of heavy razor/sharpening, even for professional sharpeners with its impressive height. This stone has a wonderfully smooth and easy going feel for such a dense and fine stone. Extremely versatile stone with uses ranging from Razor finishing, knives and tools. Perfect for Mikawa Nagura progressions for finishing razors with excellent feedback. Very rare to find such a user friendly hard stone with great feedback. Can be used for knives for a bright, near mirror polish.
