Aiiwatani Tomae Asagi Goma Japanese Natural Finishing Whetstone

 This exceptional Japanese whetstone was selected by us and imported directly from Japan, thoroughly tested and sealed on sides and back to protect the stone for long term use.

It measures 201 mm (7.91 inches) long × 73 mm (2.87 inches) wide × 24 mm (0.94 inches) tall, and weighs 956 g (33.71 oz / 2.11 lbs).

This full 40' size Aiiwatani Asagi is extremely hard and fine. Nearly perfect except the dropped corner. The stone is a very high level razor finishing stone with moderate cutting speed and extremely fine polishing capabilities. A bit hard for knives and tools but has a slightly forgiving feel which allows it to be used as such where an extremely high polish is desired. The stone has a beige, nearly Haubute base color with dense patches of goma. Perfect for nagura progressions and fast enough for standalone use. This beautiful Asagi is mostly suited for razors but can be used for mirror finishing with nagura on knives and tools where an ultra fine finish is desired.
