Atagoyama Tomae Iromono Japanese Natural Whetstone
Selected by us and imported directly from Japan, this Japanese whetstone has been sealed on the sides and back with clear lacquer for protection and extensively tested to assess its performance. Complete details of our testing results are provided below.
Hardness: 3.5
Vintage Atagoyama firm Azuki Asagi Suminagashi. A vintage koppa with excellent hardness and mirror polishing ability. A perfect stone for someone looking for a harder, more fine Atagoyama stone which is quite different overall from the current examples on the market today. This harder type of Atagoyama is great for razor final finishing and capable of achieving extremely keen/fine edges and quickly. This particular stone is quite narrow and thin height so it's a great value. A perfect stone to use as a comparison to a softer, more modern Atagoyama. This stone has a classic, green Azuki colored base with underlying Suminagashi patterns and red Iromono patterns. A surprisingly dense, firm and fine stone.
