It measures 205 mm (8.07 inches) long × 77 mm (3.03 inches) wide × 40 mm (1.57 inches) tall, and weighs 1690 g (3.73 pounds).

Hardness: 4.6
Extremely rare and collectable Hatanaka Nakayama Daijo/Ogami Maruka. This stone was mined from a rare layer called Daijo or Ogami. This particular example is on the softer side but still very firm and fine. It has a hint of self slurry which has extremely fine texture. This stone was acquired from Japan and originated from the Hatanaka Tennen Toishi company in Kyoto. This shop stamped Nakayama stones in which they deemed to be excellent, with the Maruka Stamp. The stones end is stamped with the Maruka stamp in original blue ink. When tested, the stone demonstrated a firm but forgiving base with light self slurry. The stone is noticeably fine for its softer nature. Will be great as a standalone finisher or experimented with using Nagura progressions. This stone would also be a great candidate for a knife polishing/sharpening stone for a bright, semi mirror finish with great reflectivity. This collection grade stone is double sealed with Cashew lacquer to preserve side stamping
