An absolutely monstrous Hideriyama Renge Suita "Koppa". This piece has a few thin lines which do not scratch and cannot be felt when honing making this a super clean and large suita which is extremely rare. This Suita is perfect for pre-finishing razors and polishing knives. A soft suita with excellent polishing power and capable of beautiful Kasumi finish with little effort. Almost an automatic Kasumi making machine, a knife polishers dream stone with huge available surface area, perfect for large knives as creating an even and consistent Kasumi finish for all levels of experience! These Hideriyama Suita finish rather low in the finishing stone category and shouldn't be confused with a super fine razor finisher by any means. When used as a razor pre-finisher, this Suita will remove medium grit scratches easily and replace them with a beautiful, consistent, hazy finish with depth. The razor is ready for final finishing after this stone. After extensive testing, I noticed that when polishing knives, these Hideriyama Suita can be also be used to achieve a "burnished" effect by allowing the slurry to dry and reducing the pressure and stroke length. The resulting finish is brighter and more detailed, especially in wrought iron cladding and fully hand forged knives. A rare gem with clean surface and extremely large size. The stone's white base is covered in multiple shades and colors of Renge and deep Suminagashi like patterns. A collector Grade stone!
A photo of the stone's polishing ability on a high quality Japanese kitchen knife is shown.
