Hardness: Hard/Fine
Newly mined Iyoto stone from Ehime. These Iyoto are considered Naka Toishi, or medium grit. They range in hardness and refinement capabilities with a wide range of potential performance characteristics depending on the type. There are 10+ different types of Iyoto which are currently being produced. This particular Mokume Woodgrain is on the hard and fine side. Perfect for following a 1k - 3k synthetic stone. This Woodgrain is a more firm and fine example. While a bit more firm and fine, it sits in the middle in terms of potential refinement capabilities. Quite aggressive when used with forced slurry, resulting in a solid medium grit edge. Capable of removing bevel setting scratches. This example is capable of higher levels of refinement than the other Woodgrains and can finish up to upper medium grit. Perfect for aggressive, toothy edges on knives.
