Japanese Natural Toishi Finishing Whetstone - Shobudani Asagi

This exceptional Japanese whetstone was selected and purchased by us directly from Japan, then thoroughly tested and coated with cashew lacquer on sides and back to protect the stone for long term use. It measures 128 mm (5.04 in) long × 80 mm (3.15 in) wide × 26 mm (1.02 in) thick, and weighs 637g.

Stone Testing Details:

Hardness: LV 4.7
Deep, Darker color Mizu Asagi with gentle, elastic feel. There are a few black lines on the surface of the stone which didn't release any particles or scratch. For razors on water only, the feeling of elasticity is so much that the razor feels cushioned on the stone. Light diamond plate slurry yielded an increase in cutting speed. Excellent for making lightning keen edges on razors.
Mikawa Nagura worked but a high percent of base stone releases into the mix. Careful assessment of feedback is necessary. For knives, the stone has the same elasticity; very smooth and comfortable with user friendly feel. Kasumi finish is a hazy semi mirror finish.
