This exceptional Japanese whetstone was selected by us and imported directly from Japan and thoroughly tested and the sides and back were sealed with clear lacquer.

Old Stock Kouzaki Aoto. Kouzaki Aoto are a harder type of Aoto whetstone. Aoto are well revered in Japan for Naka Toishi as they cut efficiently and create a blanket of haze which aids in creating a smooth and even Kasumi finish. This is an extremely old stock stone of high quality which was stored for generation's by our wholesaler. His family was instrumental in creating the Kyoto natural whetstone association. Typically, particle uniformity is the main character trait in which Aoto and monzento are graded by. Standard shape which is a bit more dense and firm than the rest of the group. Near perfect example with deeper, more dark base color and a tad more refined overall than the rest of this group.
