I’ve always loved Simpson Chubby handles, but the CH3 is truly the king of the Chubbies for me. The size and shape are incredibly comfortable in the hand, and it makes building and working a lather feel completely effortless.
The real surprise, though, was the Platinum Synthetic B knot. I honestly wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but this knot absolutely blew me away. It has backbone, but not in a stiff or uncomfortable way — it’s more like the perfect amount of support. It splays beautifully and comfortably across the face, while the tips are unbelievably soft, almost cloud-like. ☁️
And then came the part that really got me. After the shave, I rinsed out the lather and fully expected the usual synthetic “drenched wet cat” appearance. 🤣 Instead, I looked at it and thought, Wait a minute… I can treat this thing like a badger! I gave it the same treatment I would one of my badger knots, and sure enough, it went right back into a gorgeous, full bloom even while drying.
I was genuinely in awe. A synthetic knot that doesn’t look like a drowned cat when you’re finished with it?! I didn’t think that was possible. 🤦♂️😂
Needless to say, I was so impressed that I immediately ordered two more CH3s from Griffith Shaving Goods — Marble Green and Coral — and I cannot wait for them to arrive.
