Morihei is a highly revered natural whetstone shop in Tokyo. For generations, they have collected the highest quality stones. Craftsman and collectors alike cherish morihei for their high standards in stone quality. Ozuku is an Eastern, Yamashiro mine which is highly regarded for its dense, fine stones. Ozuku are treasured by sword polishers, barbers and carpenters for their purity and particle uniformity and this example is an old stock, high purity specimen. This stunning Asagi really comes to life when wet and beige Asagi base color and vivid orange Kan rings really pop with amazing contrast. This stone was stored for decades as mining has ceased many decades ago at Ozuku. This is a super hard stone yet has the unique ability to be used with heavier blades as it's level of elasticity\/cushion is outstanding. This stone creates inky, jet black swarf immediately and the feedback is sublime. This piece has an extremely luxurious feel when used with all blades including razors, tools, and Honyaki\/ iron clad carbon steel knives. Atom splitting edges and striking mirror like polish are achieved with no fuss and this stone is quite straightforward and used friendly. This is not your \"run of the mill\" Ozuku Asagi which are still seen more commonly on the market today. Those can be amazing however this stone is a super high performance stone.
