Selected by us and imported directly from Japan, this Japanese whetstone has been sealed on the sides and back with clear lacquer for protection and extensively tested to assess its performance. Complete details of our testing results are provided below.
Hardness: 4
Vintage Narutaki Ikimurasaki with stunning Kan circular patterns. This easy going, softer stone is highly abrasive and extremely easy to use. Perfect for all blades including knives and tools, and razor pre finishing to early stage finishing. This gorgeous stone features a deep, multi faceted Ikimurasaki or purple base color, typical of Tenjou Tomae strata stones. This stone is marked as stone #416 and was acquired originally from Alex Gilmore from Japanstone. This softer stone releases grit rich abrasive mud/slurry easily under the weight of knives and tools but overly soft at all. This stone is capable of a range of refinement levels depending on how it's used. It's just firm enough to allow for slurry/particle breakdown with proper technique and time spent.
