Okudo is one of the highest regarded mines in Japan with its unique geological traits. Most notably, Okudo is known as "Suitayama" as all of its layers/strata include stones with the presence of microscopic Su or holes left from gas and pressure during their formation. These su holes, which are typically only found in Suita, add to the stones performance by increasing cutting speed and avoiding clogging. Okudo are also known for being extremely grit rich and packed with silica abrasive which is extremely fine in nature.
