This exceptional Japanese whetstone was selected by us and imported directly from Japan, thoroughly tested and sealed on sides and back to protect the stone for long term use.

It measures 205 mm (8.07 inches) long × 75 mm (2.95 inches) wide × 35 mm (1.38 inches) tall, and weighs 1375 g (48.45 oz / 3.03 lbs).

Hardness: 4.3 hard/4.7 fine
Extremely large and rare Ozaki Shiki Tomae Asagi. This stone is dense, firm and fine, perfect for razor and tool final finishing. Ozaki Stones are rarely seen on the market. They come with a huge recommendation from Iwasaki who compared them to Nakayama stones. Ozaki stones are known for their impressive hardness and fine particles while containing a high percentage of silica. This translates to a perfect scenario for final finishing of blades needing a fine finish. This stone has a classic Shiro Asagi base with deep, complex, swirling patterns. In use, the stone is quite versatile for its hardness. Can be used either standalone due to its fast cutting ability or can be used with Nagura progressions as it's hard enough.

A photo of the stone's polishing ability on soft and hard steels of a Japanese kanna (plane) blade is shown.
