This exceptional Japanese whetstone was selected by us and imported directly from Japan and thoroughly tested and the sides and back were sealed with clear lacquer.

Vintage Atagoyama firm yellow Asagi. A vintage koppa with excellent hardness and mirror polishing ability. A perfect stone for someone looking for a harder, more fine Atagoyama stone which is quite different overall from the current examples on the market today. This harder type of Atagoyama is great for razor final finishing and capable of achieving extremely keen/fine edges and quickly. This particular stone is quite narrow and thin height so it's a great value. A perfect stone to use as a comparison to a softer, more modern Atagoyama. This stone has a classic, yellow asagi colored base with underlying Suminagashi patterns. A surprisingly dense, firm and fine stone. This piece features black mottling on the surface which is reminiscent of Okudo and Nakayama Tomae. Not only does it appear similar to those stones but performs on par as well.
