Hatanaka Nakayama Asagi Maruka Rare Japanese Natural Finishing Whetstone

This exceptional Japanese whetstone was selected by us and imported directly from Japan, thoroughly tested and sealed on sides and back to protect the stone for long term use. 

It measures 140 mm (5.51 inches) long × 82 mm (3.23 inches) wide × 20 mm (0.79 inches) tall, and weighs 600 g (21.16 oz / 1.32 lbs).

Beautiful NOS Nakayama Asagi with Maruka and original Hatanaka stamping. Comes in the original packaging. Perfect razor size and very hard kamisori hone. The surface is oxidized and we decided against lapping and stamp removal so we've lightly tested it and sealed it up. The surface oxidation will be removed in lapping and the end user will uncover its original surface and features. Upon light testing, the stone is absolutely dense, hard and fine, an exceptional example of Nakayama Shiki Tomae in rare yellow, asagi coloration. This type of Shiki Tomae is revered around the globe for its delicate, nuanced feel when honing. These Shiki Tomae are re-nowed for their keen ability to produce screaming, laser edges and create a beautiful and nuanced mirror like polish.
