Vintage Hatanaka Nakayama Hon Suita Renge. Hatanaka Tennen toishi was the company responsible for mining Nakayama after the rights were passed along from Kato San. Hatanaka is one of the most well known and revered stone shops in history, best known for Nakayama Maruka. Nakayama is one of the two original Honyama Mines along with Shobudani. This is a stunning Hon Suita which features a bright yellow base color with white mottling and orange Yaki. it is less common for Nakayama Suita to contain aka Renge and this piece shows some nice aka Renge on the surface and also within. A super rare opportunity to find this caliber of stone still in the box and stamped. This beautiful Hon Suita also features a stunningly detailed kakishibu or leopard pattern which is extremely rare and desirable. An hard, fine Suita with extremely fast cutting properties which is one of the main attractions of nakayama Suita. although quite hard, heavier blades like knives and tools can be used with ease. Great stone for final finishing which is extremely rare in a Suita. Can be directly compared with Okudo Suita in many ways but the final polish and level of refinement is slightly brighter and more reflective in this stone. Extremely old stock Maruka!
