Super thick NOS Maruichi Nakayama Namito. Maruichi Shokai was a popular tennen toishi wholesaler and shop which closed down decades ago. This piece is from their remaining inventory which was stored by a specialty carpentry shop in Japan. Maruichi Nakayama stones were sold/traded directly from Hatanaka/Kato inventory so this stone was processed using their inventory. maruichi stones are highly revered in the razor, knife and tool communities and for great reason. Namito is a deeper layer or strata which sits between Aisa and Tomae and often features performance characteristics and appearance similar to those layers. This particular piece is quite hard and dense with impressive weight and stature. besides the irregular shape near the bottom of the stone, it's a near perfect piece and will surely last multiple lifetimes of professional use. This Namito features a yellowish, beige base color with Goma and the stone's surface is clean and flawless. A versatile hard stone which can be used for a wide variety of applications including razors, knives, tools and swords.
