This beautiful Uchigumori was mined from Mizukihara in Kameoka in Kyoto. This stone was sourced from a sword polishing shop in Japan. It features a stunning array of colors and patterns. The stone has a beautiful and rare orange hue to the surface and the stone is quite hard for Uchigumori. The stone is perfect for razors, knives, tools and swords. Water only honing is exceedingly smooth and easy. The stone cuts the steel immediately and black swarf is released under light pressure. Creating some thin slurry increases the cutting speed dramatically and the stone removes scratches from Aoto with ease. This stone is quite fine for Uchigumori and will finish a razor to a comfortable shave. Unfortunately, there is a line running the entire length of the stone, front and back. This line does not scratch or affect honing at this time but certainly may with subsequent lapping and use. In that case, the line can be removed with a nail or sharp object.
