Vintage Morihei Shohonyama Hon Tomae Kiita Kan from legendary whetstone shop Morihei in Tokyo. This large, voluminous Kiita is exceptionally pure and stunningly beautiful. Shohonyama is a general term used by stone wholesalers to note either unknown mine or just prefer not to disclose the mine name. This stone was mined from an Eastern, Yamashiro Area mine. Finding a perfectly shaped Kiita like this piece is extremely rare. An extremely user friendly, yet harder Kiita which is extremely versatile and high performance. This stone is indistinguishable from the highest quality Nakayama Kiita and should be viewed as such, although lacking the official title/mine stamp. An extremely fast Kiita with easy going, elastic and cushioned feel which is great for not only razors but also heavier blades like knives and tools. The ultimate versatile finishing stone! Can be used either standalone or with Nagura progressions when honing razors and creates atom splitting edges with very little fuss or difficulty. When using it for polishing, it accepts and locks in heavier blades with ease and creates a silky smooth gliding sensation. Inky black swarf is created instantly and the polish is super detailed, bright and beautiful. Perfect for Honyaki finishing!
