This exceptional Japanese whetstone was selected by us and imported directly from Japan, thoroughly tested and sealed on sides and back to protect the stone for long term use. 

It measures 180 mm (7.09 inches) long × 65 mm (2.56 inches) wide × 37 mm (1.46 inches) tall, and weighs 1136 g (40.06 oz / 2.51 lbs).

Old mined Nakayama Hon tomae Iromono. Deep shades of reds and purples run throughout the stone. A hard, fine tomae with smooth, user friendly feel. Excellent All around performer with the quintessential fast cutting properties which nakayama is known for. This piece works extremely well with a wide variety of applications and steel types solidifying its all purpose traits. An extremely versatile stone which is capable of being used for finishing Knives, Razors, and tools. Although quite hard, this piece has an extremely creamy, smooth feel. When used for razor honing, the stone provides excellent. discernible feedback when slurried with various mediums such as tomo/mikawa/Tsushima nagura or diamond plates. Although not super hard, its super fine abrasive particles are broken down as you hone. This stone is capable of producing light saber keen edges with work. It's fast cutting and diamond plate slurry is aggressive and fast. When used for knives and tools, this stone quickly and easily removes the previous grit scratches and produces extremely sharp edges and does a wonderful job in terms of contrasting kasumi finish with ease.
