Nakayama Tomae Mizu Asagi Japanese Natural Finishing Whetstone

This exceptional Japanese whetstone was selected by us and imported directly from Japan, thoroughly tested and sealed on sides and back to protect the stone for long term use. 

It measures 190 mm (7.48 inches) long × 75 mm (2.95 inches) wide × 35 mm (1.38 inches) tall, and weighs 1117 g (39.40 oz / 2.46 lbs).

Vintage Nakayama Mizu Asagi Koppa with odd shaped backside. This stone is angled on the backside which creates a situation in which the stone needs stabilization. This stone will be priced much more affordably due this factor alone, making it a great value in terms ofc pure performance. This Mizu Asagi is very hard and fine. It works extremely well with Nagura progressions or standalone use when honing razors. It's a great stone for reading Nagura feedback and fast enough finish standalone, especially with light slurry to aid in cutting speed. The stone is great for tools and knives as it accepts firm pressure, despite its high hardness. The stone shows its high abrasive content when sharpening a Kanna blade and demonstrates inky, black swarf with no self slurry. The stone creates a bright mirror like finish with ease. An exceptional value as it would be priced much higher without the shape flaw. Classic Mizu Asagi blue base coloration with deep holographic patterns and Goma. The stone is likely a border or combination stone of a deeper layer such as Hon/Shiki Tomae and Namito.
