Numata are widely considered to be some of best overall Naka Toishi or medium grit natural stones. Their fine composition is evident immediately and displays great density. Quite firm for a medium stone and feels similar in hardness to firm Iyoto but the texture and feedback of Numata is notably more fine and smooth, especially with water only. This Numata has a fine and consistent grain which is highly abrasive and fast with inky swarf produced immediately. Can remove 1000 grit scratches quickly and efficiently with excellent feedback and smooth operation. Produces a highly polished edge and Kasumi. Scratches remaining are extremely fine and can be nearly removed with extended work and finese. Results are similar to Mikawa Shiro Nagura.
