Extremely large sized, hard and fine Shobudani Asagi with amazing colors. This piece was mined in the 1940's, during the heyday of natural stones in Japan. These super hard Shobudani Asagi have become increasingly rare and sought after with stocks dwindling and no new mining. This Impressive Asagi features a green/blue base with flowing movement, and surely will change as the stone is used/lapped, referred to in Japan as a "Living/Live Stone". It appears that some Karasu lays in wait as well. This Hard Asagi is perfect for Razor honing using Mikawa nagura progressions. Although it is hard, it contains dense, fine abrasive particles which make the stone fast enough for standalone finishing when slurry is forced. For such a hard stone, its versatility is unparalleled as it can be used for knives and tools as well.
