Aiwatani Asagi San Japanese Awasedo Whetstone

This exceptional Japanese whetstone was thoroughly tested by us and coated with cashew lacquer on sides and back to protect the stone for long term use. 
It measures 190 mm (7.48 inches) long × 60 mm (2.36 inches) wide × 17 mm (0.67 inches) tall, and weighs 392 g (0.86 pounds).

This San sized hone was taken from the Aiiwatani mine. this stone is best used hand held as it's shape on the bottom prohibits table top honing. It can be adhered to Dai for maximum stability. This Beautiful bright yellow Asagi stone is packed full of performance. While thin, it performs way above its price point and represents a lot of a bang for your buck. Water only honing is magical with extremely smooth and pleasant feel. A bit of black swarf is left along the way. Slurrying the stone releases it full capabilities and speeds up the stones cutting performance. Mikawa Nagura Progressions are possible but not the most ideal as the stone isn't overly hard. overall, a great value, high performance stone.
