Belgian Coticule & Belgian Blue - VINTAGE & RARE Collectable Classic Water Razor Hone Sharpening Stones - CHOOSE YOUR STONE

$80.00 USD

Offered here are classic, old mined Belgian Coticule water razor hones with Belgian Blue backing stone from the Ardennes region of Belgium.
Mined and prized as barber hones for hundreds of years, presented here is a small selection of old and rare stones from our private collection.
As with all old coticules, these are composed of the dual side Yellow Coticule and Belgian Blue honing surfaces.
Each of these hones includes a coticule slurry stone as pictured and has been freshly lapped on the yellow coticule side and are ready to use.

The stones pictured here (shown with the honing surfaces wet in the final photos) have the following features:

Size/Weight:

Stone #1 - 5x2.5in. at the longest/widest points & .9in thick
This is a very rare, excellent condition natural combo hone labelled Pearlduck "DEEP ROCK" coticule. It is one of the best coticules we have ever used (and got many a great edge from it). The label has been lacquered to the stone, and it is one of the fastest cutting coticules we've ever used (which you might guess from the reddish coloring all through the coticule). Even thought the speed is high, it is of medium hardness and will not auto slurry unless some pressure is used. A gem of a stone overall.

Stone #2 - 7.5x1.7 in. at the longest/widest points & .8in thick
This is a very old natural combo stone which has at trapezoidal cross section seen in very old stones (1800s and possibly earlier). It is a very hard coticule, yet for it's hardness is actually quite a strong cutter. A really excellent wide ranging stone.

Stone #3 - 7x1.65 in. at the longest/widest points & .75in thick
Another stone which has powerful cutting abilities yet is of medium hardness and finishes well. A very nice natural combo hone and solid all around performer.

Stone #4 - 4x1.85 in. at the longest/widest points, approximately & .85in thick
A very nice, deeply yellow and smooth as silk coticule glued to BBW backing combo hone. Testing in progress, more details to come....
