Restoration: Fully restored- The blade was carefully reground to correct blade geometry and remove detrimental wear, fully polished, the new scales were fitted and finally the assembled razor was honed and stropped to a comfortable shaving edge (all in-house by GSG founder Matt W.)

Material: Sheffield Carbon Crucible Steel
Width: 6/8” wide from edge to top of spine at the widest point
Grind: near wedge
Hone Wear: light, with a thin, even bevel at the edge 
Tip: Square
Finishes: Crocus (mirror) finish on the blade faces, the tang and spine were left with their aged patina
Condition: Excellent, some minor cosmetic blemishes remaining in the steel, commensurate with its age but stunning overall
Shave ready: Yes, freshly honed with 1 layer of tape on the spine, fully stropped, sanitized and ready to shave

Material: New custom fitted buffalo horn, mammoth ivory wedge
Pinning: Reproduction extra large beehive style nickel silver pins and washers
Condition: Gorgeous, the blade is held tightly, centers well between them and is balanced well

About our restoration and honing process
Each one of our restored razors is brought back to life with a passion and attention to detail like it would be an addition to our own collection or user rotation. Many years of restoration experience and hundreds of restored razors sold around the world have refined our processes, but each razor is still given the time and individual attention it needs. Our vintage razors undergo dozens of steps involving blade unpinning (where necessarily) metal grinding/sanding with a range of different diameter and hardness wheels with various grits of abrasive and polishes. Scales are straightened and repaired when necessary, wet sanded and polishing. After the razor’s cosmetic and functional repairs are completed, a multistep honing process using a range of synthetic and natural sharpening stones is used to bring each razor back to keen and comfortable shaving sharpness. Finally stropping is performed on one of our cordovan leather strops and the blade is sanitized in Barbicide hospital-grade disinfectant.
