NOTE: This listing is to purchase one hone only. We are showing a few examples in the photos so that you can see examples of the various stone coloring and figuring.
Offered here are Dalmore Blue Sharpening Stones, a piece of history from the original  workshop on the Dalmore estate in rural Stair, Scotland. In widespread use since the 1800s, this sandstone type coarse grit (1200) stone is perfect for setting bevels on knives and razors. It's a crucial step before moving to a medium-fine stone and finishing hone. Its coarse grit ensures efficient material removal, leading to precise sharpening and razor-sharp edges.

As new but old stock, each stone comes with rough-sawn surface and possibly surface staining from a long storage and dampness.
These are hand quarried, natural stones, and as such the color, size and shape will vary slightly from stone to stone. The stone surface is pictured dry, and finally wet in the last photo. A selection of representative examples can be seen in the photos.

Lapping Service: For those seeking immediate use, we offer a lapping service at checkout to flatten and smoothen the stone's surface. Add this item to your cart Lapping Service and we will flatten your stone before shipment up to a fine finish. Please allow an extra 2-3 business days after purchase for us to perform this service.
