For this paddle strop, handmade in our workshop, 3 inch wide by 12 inch long pieces of luxurious and durable smooth shell cordovan horsehide and supple vegetable tanned cowhide are joined with a gorgeous 18 x 3 inch piece of locally harvested and well seasoned curly birch to create this paddle strop that performs as impressively as it looks. The shell cordovan used in this strop is the ultimate in top-tier leathers. It is often used in dress shoes and other luxury items and is prized for its smooth, slick yet supremely durable surface. This particular type of leather's rarity and cost is due to the many months needed for the tanning process and the fact that only a few square feet are obtained from each horsehide.

Leather replacement sections are available upon request, but subject to availability of what hides we have on hand.
