Japanese Natural Finishing Toishi Whetstone - Nakayama Karasu koppa

This exceptional Japanese whetstone was purchased by us from the estate of a collector of fine razors & hones. It measures 160 mm (6.30 in) long × 100 mm (3.94 in) wide × 30 mm (1.18 in) tall, and weighs 786g.

Beautiful Karasu koppa with affordable price. This stone is medium hard and fine, making it well suited for knives, razors and tools.
For razors, there is plenty of surface area to hone comfortably. The honing sensation with Mikawa Nagura is semi clear but the stone has a whispy feel with water only that carries over into Nagura progressions as it releases itself into the slurry. This will need to be taken note of when using Mikawa nagura and interpretation of the feedback. 
For knife polishing the stone will self slurry a bit and for being hard, it's a very inviting and gentle feel. The cutting speed is moderate and the whispy feel carries over to knives as well. It feels best with medium to light pressure.
