Vintage, BNIB Maruichi Nakayama from a closed shops inventory. Maruichi Shokai was a famous distributor in the Barber industry in JP. They were most famous for these Nakayama and Narutaki Maruichi Whetstones which were processed and stamped by Maruichi, originating from Kato/Hatanaka. Maruichi Whetstones tend to be mostly marketed towards straight razor users but these high quality stones are amazing for knives, tools, razors and swords! Nowadays, these Maruichi are rare and valuable as the company closed decades ago. This is a pristine, super hard and fine razor finishing hone which offers the highest level of base hardness when compared to most other Nakayama. This Ao (Blue) Asagi was mined from the Shiki Tomae strata which is the lowest of the Tomae layers and thus, most dense and compact overall. This translates to super hard base and extremely fine, densely packed Silica abrasive particles which are bound tightly within the clay matrix of elements which compose the stone. This Asagi is a pure razor finisher with impressive size. perfect for Mikawa nagura progressions and will translate feedback nicely. Will produce the signature Nakayama mirror finish with the highest levels of refinement. light saber edges produced with proper technique and time.
