Maruichi Nakayama Mizu Asagi San Japanese Natural Finishing Whetstone

This exceptional Japanese whetstone was selected by us and imported directly from Japan, thoroughly tested and sealed on sides and back to protect the stone for long term use. 

It measures 205 mm (8.07 inches) long × 48 mm (1.89 inches) wide × 25 mm (0.98 inches) tall, and weighs 756 g with wooden dai (26.67 oz / 1.67 lbs).

NOS Nakayama Maruichi Mizu Asagi with excellent hardness. This piece is perfect for razor/kamisori honing. Perfect for Mikawa nagura progressions and displays excellent nagura feedback. The stone itself has a velvety smooth feel when honing on water only creating a blank canvas for nagura feedback. This stone is fine, dense and super hard Nakayama Mizu Asagi and will surely last a lifetime with it's height. The stone is mounted to the original wooden dai and all stamps, box and stickers remain. There are some thin hairline fissures toward the top of the stone. one of which can be slightly felt but it appears that lapping will resolve the issue as the stone is very old and we decided against removing the stamps with a full lapping.
