Mikawa Shiro Nagura Botan Raw Huge Museum Grade Japanese Whetstone

This exceptional Japanese whetstone was selected by us and imported directly from Japan, thoroughly tested and sealed on sides and back to protect the stone for long term use.

It measures 375 mm (14.76 inches) long × 150 mm (5.91 inches) wide × 25 mm (0.98 inches) tall at the longest points, and weighs 2444 g (86.25 oz / 5.39 lbs).

Gigantic slab of Asano Stamped Mikawa Shiro Nagura Botan Raw Ore. This stone was obtained directly from the craftsman who stamps the Nagura, guaranteeing the stone's Authenticity. The stone was stamped on the side many years ago and was being saved as a possible stone for direct sharpening. This Nagura has been sealed on the sides with 4 layers of transparent lacquer. This gigantic Botan has a relatively flat surface for a piece of rough ore. We have lapped a couple smaller areas in order to execute the testing process to our level of satisfaction. The end user can choose whether or not they would like to flatten the entire surface. There are a few lower spots on the surface which I decided to lacquer as a countermeasure to standing water. The lacquer was applied thinly and it will lap off easily when the stone is totally resurfaced. Collector/Museum Grade stone!
