Mikawa Shiro Nagura Koma Japanese Whetstone

This exceptional Japanese whetstone was selected by us and imported directly from Japan, thoroughly tested and sealed on sides and back to protect the stone for long term use. 

It measures 193 mm (7.60 inches) long × 60 mm (2.36 inches) wide × 20 mm (0.79 inches) tall, and weighs 497 g (17.54 oz / 1.10 lbs).

Asano Stamped Mikawa Shiro Nagura Koma with flat surface for direct honing. These Tokyuju Koma Nagura are extremely rare, especially in this format. They are traditionally used for sword polishing. These examples contain black dots which can scratch the steel but upon extensive testing, they are not an issue and no scratching of the soft/hard steel occured. Compared directly to the polishing results of the Botan and Tenjou which we received, these Koma Nagura exhibit a high level of refinement, consistent with their traditional classification. When sharpening a vintage plane blade, this Nagura cuts the steel very quickly with semi dry but extremely smooth feedback.
