Mikawa Shiro Nagura Koma Japanese Whetstone
This exceptional Japanese whetstone is a rare treasure, purchased by us from the estate of a collector of fine Japanese hones.
Thoroughly evaluated by 3 experts, this whetstone comes with a pedigree of testing and appreciation. Initially assessed and sold by Keith Johnson of Brooklyn, a highly respected authority in the whetstone community.
It measures 155 mm (6.10 inches) long × 40 mm (1.57 inches) wide × 30 mm (1.18 inches) tall, and weighs 366 g (12.92 oz / 0.81 lbs).
Mikawa stamped Koma nagura from KVJ. This piece is longer and narrow with ample surface to hone direct. Betsuju grade, meaning pure white and the stone has a smooth, user friendly disposition, overall. The surface has some black spots which do not affect honing at all. This piece has excellent thickness and being a bit softer for Koma, it will make a wonderful polishing stone for knives and honyaki blades as well.
