Since 1953, Ikeuchi Hamono has been producing high quality tools and knives which are favored by many craftsmen in Japan.

Located in Miki City, the company is known for fusing traditional methods with modern technology. The Aogami #2 Damascus Kiridashi series is a nod to traditional forging methods. Head blacksmith and owner Hidenori Shozo hand laminates the 8 layered, soft iron Damascus cladding. He then forge welds the Aogami #2 (his steel of choice) with the Damascus cladding in the traditional Ni - Mai (Single Bevel) forging process. The approximate HRC is between 62-63 Rockwell. These knives are for right handed users.

The result of this painstaking process is a beautiful, multi - layered blade with excellent hardness, edge retention, and sharpness. The added Chromium and Tungsten elements which comprise Aogami #2 steel help to facilitate toughness, corrosion resistance and wear resistance. The soft iron Damascus cladding is reactive and will patina with use along with the core steel. General carbon steel maintenance applies.

These Kiridashi knives are the ultimate all purpose blades and their range of uses is quite diverse. Everything from woodworking to package opening is much more enjoyable.  When sharpening these knives, traditional single bevel sharpening technique will result in a very sharp edge.

These blades are the ultimate natural stone testing knife as the Damascus cladding gives a beautiful glimpse into the stones sharpening characteristics.
