Uchigumori fingerstones have been used in Japan, throughout history, for polishing swords. In a traditional sword polishing progression, these stones are used for the final stages of polishing. Uchigumori are unique in that they have specific characteristics which react with the steel creating a unique polishing effect. In modern times, they are used for polishing knives to create the same effects.

Uchigumori Fingerstones are harvested from raw Uchigumori Ore and help to create a smooth, even and consistent Kasumi finish with a hazy Jigane and white, hazy Hagane. Depending on the hardness and performance characteristics of the Uchigumori, differing levels of refinement and haze can be achieved.

These pieces of Uchigumori can be thinned and flattened to make Fingerstones. There are various sizes, shapes and levels of hardness. Some are large enough to make Tomo Nagura.

With all unprocessed stones, there a degree of uncertainty regarding the final results which can only determined by using the stones.
