Nakayama Aisa Kiita Karasu Maruka Japanese Natural Finishing Whetstone

 This exceptional Japanese whetstone was obtained by us from a collection, thoroughly tested and sealed on sides and back to protect the stone for long term use.

It measures 135 mm (5.31 inches) long × 80 mm (3.15 inches) wide × 18 mm (0.71 inches) tall, and weighs 498 g (17.57 oz / 1.10 lbs).

Smooth and buttery Nakayama Aisa Kitta with Maruka Stamp. This stone is a classic example of Nakayama Aisa with it's easy going yet firm base. When comparing side by side with hon Tomae stones, this one exhibits a noticeably smooth and forgiving base with a touch of elasticity prohibiting too much self slurry. This element of elasticity allows for maximum friability of particles resulting in keen edges. These Aisa with Kiita yellow coloration can be difficult to differentiate from Hon Tomae, visually. This example is classic kiita yellow with nashiji and iromono banding. These Aisa are extremely versatile and lend themselves to knife finishing with their smooth, softer base hardness. While being a bit more gentle, they still possess the ability to finish razors at an extremely high level. Great for knife polishing and edge finishing offering a wonderful balance between toothy and refined edges. Genuine Maruka stamping on the end cap. This Razor sized beauty is capable of an impressive range of refinement capabilities depending on how it's used. A wonderfully versatile Maruka with excellent erase of use yet capable of extremely fine finishing with extended work and proper technique.
