Nakayama Asagi Vintage Nagura Japanese Natural Finishing Whetstone

This piece appears to be Vintage Nakayama tomo nagura in large format from a closed wholesaler. This tamagoiro piece features a vivid orange base with creamy striping and underneath, appears to be tenjou Suita. this piece is likely a border stone between Tenjou Suita and a higher Tomae layer such as tenjou Tomae. These Nakayama Tomo nagura were produced by a wholesaler who is now closed and they appear to be cut off of larger stones which may have been broken/damaged. Although a bit softer than the modern, newly mined Nakayama Tomo nagura, this piece produces ample slurry which contains grit rich, fine mud.
