Nakayama Koppa Japanese Natural Finishing Whetstone

This exceptional Japanese whetstone was selected by us and imported directly from Japan, thoroughly tested and sealed on sides and back to protect the stone for long term use. 

It measures 147 mm (5.79 inches) long × 50 mm (1.97 inches) wide × 15 mm (0.59 inches) tall, and weighs 296 g (10.44 oz / 0.65 lbs).

Nakayama is one of the original Honyama Mines, along with Shobudani. Nakayama are some of the most highly sought after stones worldwide and for great reason. Nakayama have been used throughout history for a wide variety of tasks and applications including razors, knives, tools and swords. This Nakayama was mined around the 1970's when mining started to decrease. Nakayama are known for being extremely grit rich, hard, and composed of highly abrasive, yet fine particles. For this reason, they are highly effective in cutting the hard steel, which makes them amazing for razors. Beautiful hard, hand held size razor Kiita with a beautiful vivid yellow base.
