These affordable and impressive koppa from the Nakayama mine represent an excellent value for all skill and experience levels. These koppa are smaller and some slightly irregular in shape but overall, they're quite uniform in terms of natural stones. They're the perfect size for trial honing, large tomo nagura and hand held honing. These Nakayama Suita are quite dense, hard and fine, living up to their namesake. 

These stones were mined recently and represent a new era of mining Nakayama. A very high percentage of the stones currently being mined are these Suita. They come in varying shades of yellows, oranges, and browns. Some of which contain Karasu or crow patterns. Regardless of the visual differences, the performance characteristics of this group are quite consistent. All of them are very hard, dense and fine. The largest variance being feedback and level of elasticity when sharpening. 

These koppa are quite versatile in terms of application and they will perform wonderfully on razors, knives and tools for final finishing. These stones tend to polish on the Bright side which is a characteristic that Nakayama is known for. They also contain high levels of silica abrasive particles which are extremely fine. This lends itself to fast, efficient scratch removal and the ability to break down the slurry with the high base hardness acting as a solid platform for the friable particles to be further broken down. This results in a bright mirror like polish and hyper keen edges.
