Kato era Nakayama Kuramaguchi Namito with Maruka stamp! Before Hatanaka Whetstone Co was founded, Kato San owned and operated the Nakayama mine. There were various mining shafts and ore pits within the Nakayama mine and the most famous and popular Nakayama of all time are Kuramaguchi Maruka. Kuramaguchi is the name of the mining shaft/ore pit where the Kuramaguchi were mined from. Kuramaguchi Nakayama contain microscopic Su holes similar to Suita stones, which occured in all layers with the Kuramaguchi shaft. Kuramaguchi Nakayama are known for their increased cutting speed and detailed and unique Kasumi finish. Beautiful Namito stone with organic, hunter green Azuki base color which fades seamlessly into a creamy beige color. A hard, deeper layer Namito with nice shape. Dense, firm, yet versatile stone which is perfect for razors and Kamisori along with knives and tools.
