Norris Late 1700s /Early 1800s 11/16 Blade with Original Horn Scales - Restored Vintage Sheffield Straight Razor - Shave Ready

$249.00 USD

Razor Specifics:
Age Range: Early 1800s
Manufacturer: Norris, Sheffield England
Restoration: Fully restored: The blade was carefully reground on an 8" wheel, fully polished and cleaned, fitted with the restored original scales, repinned and honed to shaving sharpness
Blade
Material: Sheffield Crucible Carbon Steel
Width: 11/16" wide from edge to top of spine at the widest point
Grind: Between Quarter Hollow and Near Wedge
Hone Wear: None at all, careful regrinding has left the blade with no hone wear and an even bevel
Tip: Square
Finishes: Crocus /mirror finish on the blade faces, unrestored patina on the tang and spine makes for a lovely contrast
Condition: Very attractive, some minor cosmetic blemishes (patina) remaining in the steel, commensurate with its age
Shave ready: Yes, freshly honed and stropped and sanitized, fully ready to shave

Scales
Material: Antique brown/black horn
Pinning: Steel pinning with the original steel washers
Condition: Great condition for their age, some slight warping and aging and a couple edge nicks near the pivot, but the blade is held tightly and still centers well between the scales with a little guidance
About our restoration and honing process
Each one of our restored razors is brought back to life with a passion and attention to detail like it would be an addition to our own collection or user rotation. Many years of restoration experience and hundreds of restored razors sold around the world have refined our processes, but each razor is still given the time and individual attention it needs. Our vintage razors undergo dozens of steps involving blade unpinning (where necessarily) metal grinding/sanding with a range of different diameter and hardness wheels with various grits of abrasive and polishes. Scales are straightened and repaired when necessary, wet sanded and polishing. After the razor’s cosmetic and functional repairs are completed, a multistep honing process using a range of synthetic and natural sharpening stones is used to bring each razor back to keen and comfortable shaving sharpness. Finally stropping is performed on one of our cordovan leather strops and the blade is sanitized in Barbicide hospital-grade disinfectant. If for any reason you are not satisfied with our restored razors, please contact us to discuss return options. Your satisfaction is our ultimate goal.
