Ohira is a Tanba Area, western mine which is known for its consistent Awasedo and Suita. Ohira produced a wide variety of stone types with varying character traits making it an extremely versatile and treasured mine. Some of the most highly prized Suita were mined from Ohira and the most famous Uchigumori certainly came from Ohira. This vintage Iromono has nice hardness and density. ohira stones are known for their larger, highly concentrated abrasive particles which produce fast cutting speed. The stone's increased hardness allows for nice refinement and amazing polishing results. Extremely versatile stone which is great for pre finishing razors and finishing knives and tools. Amazing as a knife polishing stone and creates a beautiful, detailed, highly contrasting kasumi finish with ease.
