This exceptional Japanese whetstone was selected by us and imported directly from Japan, thoroughly tested and sealed on sides and back to protect the stone for long term use.

It measures 163 mm (6.42 inches) long × 65 mm (2.56 inches) wide × 32 mm (1.26 inches) tall, and weighs 872 g (30.77 oz / 1.92 lbs).

Hardness: 3.5
LThick Ozaki Shiki tomae Mizu Asagi with Namazu. This stone is a bit more firm than #3052. while quite firm and fine, this stone has a distinct yet subtle elasticity that changes the overall experience. Since it's a bit more gentle, it can be used for knives, razor and tools. The stone has a Mizu Asagi base with greenish tones and some yellow Namazu. There are some hairline fissures which can be slightly felt but do not scratch the steel. For this reason, the stone will be priced accordingly. This stone is technically a 60' size stone with excellent thickness. Ozaki stones are rarely seen today which is surprising as they're coveted in Japan. Iwasaki always said that Ozaki stones are the best value stone during his time as Nakayama's were the undisputed champion, thus more expensive. For razors, the stone does best as a standalone finisher when used with diamond plate slurry, water only or Tomo Nagura. The stone has a smooth, gentle feel with excellent cutting strength.

A photo of the stone's polishing ability on soft and hard steels of a Japanese kanna (plane) blade are shown.
