These are actual old stock hones produced from the years up until 1980 and left unsold in the original FGBC workshop in France. These are in essence the same as  vintage La Lune "Only For Good Razors" hones which fetch top dollar from collectors, except without the label (and wear and tear).
The hones measure 195x50mm (3.75x2") by about 9-12mm thick.

Use of La Lune "Only For Good Razors" hones:
The sparkling gray shale which these hones were made from are a bit softer but also faster cutting than their purple La Lune cousins. The grain is 8000-10000+, this is a very fast but also very fine finishing stone for razors. One of the most famous and sought after razor finishing hones.
The stone was used in the past with oil (glycerin, mineral oil), but the stone can be used perfectly fine with water. The surface is mostly flat and smooth but can be made perfectly flat and smooth with some fine sandpaper or a fine diamond plate.

History of the FGBC ”La Lune” razor hones:
FGBC = Ferdinand (o) Ghelfi, Birolleau & Cie.
The company was founded from Ferdinand (o) Ghelfi in 1903, followed by the children who took over the name of the family business with collaborators like the Ghelfi family Fratelli brothers: Carlo, Ferdinando, Lorenzo, Jean Baptiste and Constantino.
