Shobudani Mizu Asagi Kan Japanese Natural Finishing Whetstone

This exceptional Japanese whetstone was selected by us and imported directly from Japan, thoroughly tested and sealed on sides and back to protect the stone for long term use. 

It measures 210 mm (8.27 inches) long × 75 mm (2.95 inches) wide × 45 mm (1.77 inches) tall, and weighs 1786 g (62.99 oz / 3.94 lbs).

Gorgeous old mined Shobudani Mizu Asagi Kan. This deep layer Shiki Tomae boasts high hardness and density. It's thick height is rare for these Shobudani Asagi. Shobudani was one of two of the Honyama mines, along with Nakayama, which is in close proximity. Shobudani produced a wide variety of stone types with character traits ranging across the board. This Shiki Tomae Mizu Asagi is beautiful with light water blue base coloration and adorned with Kan end cap. This Asagi is extremely pure and perfect for razor honing. These super thick, hard stones sometimes have a slightly different nuance to their overall feel and this one absolutely does. Perfect for Mikawa Nagura progressions as the base hardness allows for very low percentage of base stone released, allowing the highly abrasive Nagura to shine. This stone is capable of producing light saber edges!
