Tomita San operates a small blacksmithing forge near Miki City where his family has produced high quality small blades for 3 generations. With the passing of his father, Tomita San has taken the reigns and continues in his family tradition, using traditional and modern materials.
Miki City is the birthplace of Higonokami Japanese folding knives and many of the blacksmiths in the area are highly skilled in crafting smaller blades. Over the decades, the Tomita family has specialized in traditional Kamisori razors and we are very lucky to offer these beautiful Kamisori in both Right handed, and left handed versions.
Upon first glance at the Tomita Kamisori, you can tell it means business. The hand forged Aogami #2 is forge welded with high quality soft iron and quenched to a very nice balance of hardness of ease of sharpening, feeling particularly fine grained. The rustic Kurouchi, forge scale finish in addition to the random Tsuschime hammer tone create a tough yet elegant feel. The single bevel grind by Tomita San is done very nicely with attention to detail in grinding and final polishing.
We were informed that Tomita Kamisori will only be available in Shirogami #2 in the future. This may be our last batch of Aogami, so get them while they last!
