Vintage Hand Forged 19mm Japanese Kamisori Razor - Reground, Restored & Honed - Shave Ready

Manufacturer: Unknown (unfortunately I am not able to translate any of the stamps)
Restoration: Fully restored- The Omote (non-stamped) side of the blade was reground to remove all honing wear, fully polished and cleaned and finally honed to shaving sharpness on Japanese synthetic and natural hones (all in-house by GSG founder Matt W.)

Material: Hard Carbon Steel forge welded to softer iron backing, with vintage rattan wrapping in good condition
Dimensions: 19mm wide from edge to top of spine at the widest point, 44mm cutting edge, 154mm overall length
Grind: Typical asymmetrical Kamisori grind
Hone Wear: none at all, careful regrinding has left the razor with a very thin bevel
Tip: Muted square tip
Finishes: reproduction of the original style grinds and polishes
Condition: Excellent, only some very light blemishes remaining in the steel
Shave ready: Yes, freshly honed with kapton tape on the spine, stropped and sanitized, fully ready to shave

About our restoration and honing process
Each one of our restored razors is brought back to life with a passion and attention to detail like it would be an addition to our own collection or user rotation. Many years of restoration experience and hundreds of restored razors sold around the world have refined our processes, but each razor is still given the time and individual attention it needs. Our vintage razors undergo dozens of steps involving blade unpinning (where necessarily) metal grinding/sanding with a range of different diameter and hardness wheels with various grits of abrasive and polishes. Scales are straightened and repaired when necessary, wet sanded and polishing. After the razor’s cosmetic and functional repairs are completed, a multistep honing process using a range of synthetic and natural sharpening stones is used to bring each razor back to keen and comfortable shaving sharpness. Finally stropping is performed on one of our cordovan leather strops and the blade is sanitized in Barbicide hospital-grade disinfectant.
